Glenwood High School’s WYSE team placed first among CS8 schools at the regional competition held Tuesday, February 2 at LLCC. In fact, GHS placed in every category, even sweeping the Biology, and Engineering Graphics competition. As a team, the Titans earned 1st place among the larger schools (700 - 1500 students) and will compete in March at the sectional WYSE competition at Illinois College. Congratulations!!!

Congratulations to the following Glenwood High School performing arts students for being recognized as the top instrumentalists, and vocalists in the state:
Band - (Pictured at left) GHS senior band students Chandler Barr and Logan Kimball were selected to perform with the top high school musicians in the state at the recent IMEA conference in Peoria. Both students attended rehearsals in order to prepare for their concerts. Logan performed in the All State Jazz Band on January 29, and Chandler performed in the All State Band January 30.
Choral – (Pictured in middle) Five GHS students were selected to perform in this year’s Honors All-State Choir, also held in Peoria January 28-30. The five were Ashton Burdell, Riley Morris, Abbey Butler, Zach Perko, and Kailani Bartley. In addition, three (pictured at right) GHS students were selected for the All-State Choir: Jason Elmore, Taylor Noel, and Cameron Schlussler.
Plans are underway in planning a night full of good old fashioned fun and games for our students after the Prom ends. This event was started in order to offer our students that place to hang out after the Prom…a safe, drug-free place. We need your help, however. Click here for details!
The Glenwood Athletic Booster Club is hosting a discount card fund raising initiative which began January 28 and will run through February 10. All Glenwood Middle School and Glenwood High School athletes are being asked to sell discount cards with coupons from local businesses. The discount cards are selling for $20 each. The proceeds will go towards the Glenwood Athletic Boosters Club and the Glenwood Middle and High School athletic teams. If you are interested in purchasing a discount card please contact the GMS or GHS athletic offices.
Titan’s Scholastic Bowl Teams Place at Piasa
On January 16 and 23, the GHS varsity and JV scholastic bowl teams competed in the Piasa Bird Invitational and the Piasa Frosh-Soph Invitational at Southwestern High School. The varsity squad entered two teams, with the A team finishing in 2nd place overall. Tucker Broadbooks, Alvin Huang, and Jeremy Knoll were named to the All-Tournament Team. The JV entered one team, finishing in first place overall. Jivan Nallamothu, Sujay Someshwar, and Alex Wang were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The pizzas will be prepared at 8 a.m. Saturday, January 30, at Glenwood Middle School and delivered ASAP ─ in plenty of time for the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 7. Sales benefit the Band Boosters and go toward student accounts for uniform needs, band trips and more.
