Panera Bread Fundraiser to Benefit GHS PTO
Panera (West White Oaks location only) is offering a new fundraising opportunity to the GHS PTO. On April 17 from 4-8 p.m., Panera will donate a portion of their sales if you present this flyer (electronic or paper) when placing your order. The PTO will use these funds to support all of its activities including teacher grants, staff luncheons, and student activities (Back to School Bash, After Prom). This is a deliciously easy way to support Glenwood High School!
GHS Students Place at State WYSE Competition!

Glenwood's Bass Team Places at Wildcat Open
Glenwood High School’s Bass Team results from last weekend’s Wildcat Open on Lake Sangchris are as follows: 1st place with 15.25 lbs, Kyle Copp and Caleb Paoli, coached by Doug Jasmon;3rd place with 12.96 lbs, Reid Millburg and Austin Bell, coached by Glenn Bates; and 6th place with 11.53 lbs, Alex Moore and Wes Hunt, coached by Mike Bretscher. Congratulations!!!
Glenwood Football to Participate in Three 7 on 7s this Summer
On June 21st the Titans will travel to the University of Illinois in Champaign for the Illini Shootout. The Titans will take two teams, a Varsity and a Junior Varsity (9th-10th). Departure and game schedule information is TBA but some details of the event can be found at FightingIllini.com
The Titans will host two 7 on 7s in the month of July at GHS. Both events will begin at 9 a.m. and will have four teams coming in to compete. There will again be Varsity and Junior Varsity divisions. Schools attending for each event:
July 12th - Champaign Centennial; Williamsville; Collinsville; Highland
July 19th - Normal U-High; Metamora; Bloomington; Pleasant Plains

Key Club Community Recycle Event April 26
Glenwood High School Key Club will once again be hosting its annual community Recycling Day on Saturday April 26, 2014, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Families and businesses from the Ball-Chatham School District and/or nearby communities are invited to bring the following recyclable items to the Glenwood High School’s west parking lot (closest to GES) for drop off:
•Books • Old Pillows/Blankets •Goodwill Collection of clothing, shoes, working or nonworking computers and computer accessories including printers, faxes, and copiers, kitchenware, electronics, small appliances, décor, etc. •Wire Hangers •Eyeglasses/Sunglasses/Hearing Aids •Used/Broken Crayons •Aluminum Cans •Used and/or Empty Ink/Toner Cartridges from printers or copiers •Old Medicine •Glass (clear or colored) •Paper/Paper Bags/Clip Boards •Plastics •Tin and Aerosol Cans •Recyclable Batteries • Old Cell Phones •Packing Peanuts •Bubble Wrap •Plastic Bags •Old License Plates •Cardboard
In addition, Affordable Shred will be available the first 2 hours of the event (9 – 11 a.m.)
You are invited to bring up to 5 file-boxes of paper items/documents to be shredded – while you watch. To expedite the recycling process, please have your items separated – drop off stations will be marked in the parking lot. Goodwill will have receipts available for participants to itemize charitable donations.
The event is free to the public, however Key club will be accepting donations to benefit the hunger relief organization Feed My Starving Children (fmsc.org). Last year’s event was a huge success, and we look forward to another rewarding recycling day. Thank you to the businesses who help make this possible.

GHS PBIS Titan Ticket Winners
Titan Ticket Winners are: Ruth Ballenger, Andrea Alcocer, Kyle Peirson, Stone Casad and Luke Mittlestaedt. The teachers who nominated these students also won a prize: Mrs. Korte, Ms. Almdale, Mrs. Altman, and Mrs. Hagan. Glenwood Hall of Fame Banquet
Tickets Now Available
Tickets can now be purchased for the Glenwood Hall of Fame Banquet, to be held at 12 Noon, April 27 at Glenwood High School in Chatham. The cost is $15 for adults, $5 for children (12 and younger). They can be obtained by calling the Glenwood High School Athletic Office at 483-2424, extension five, or e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org. You may also stop by the GHS Athletic Office and purchase tickets at that location.
The event will begin with a catered banquet and will conclude with a ceremony honoring the 2014 Hall of Fame Class of inductees, including: Lifetime Recognition – The Rev. Peter Alexander; Athletics –Jane (Birtch) Vatchev; Achievement – Charles Bush; Service – Don Udey; and, Athletics (Team) – 2000-01 Girls Soccer Team. Also during the ceremony the Class of 1964 will present a video tribute to their classmates as part of their 50-year reunion. Click here to read each inductee's biography.
The Glenwood High School Hall of Fame, which includes students who have graduated from Ball and Chatham High Schools, was created to honor those individuals or groups whose actions or achievements in their chosen fields bring honor and distinction to the heritage of Glenwood High School. Categories of recognition include: Achievement, Athletics, Service, and Lifetime Recognition.
GHS/GMS Jazz Band Dance April 26th
Come and enjoy an evening of entertainment by the Glenwood High School and Middle School Jazz Bands on Saturday, April 26, 7 to 10 p.m. in the GHS Commons. Prom Dress Donations Sought
Glenwood High School is accepting donations now for gently used prom dresses in all sizes. Dresses can be dropped off in Office 1 at GHS. They will be available to any GHS student at no cost and may be picked up in the nurse’s office at GHS. Delivery is also an option.
